intergator Enterprise Search with Confluence
Aside from Microsoft SharePoint, Atlassian Confluence has become very popular when it comes to social intranet, knowledge management and collaboration. The enterprise Wiki offers numerous functions to promote an efficient teamwork and to present information clearly.
Data and documents within Confluence can be easily found via a standard search and limited filtering options of an advanced search limit the hits. Unfortunately, the search is limited to the Atlassian environment and information outside the system is not included in the search. Users complain about this limited view and often wish for a more comprehensive search that includes all data and documents within a company.
The alternative company search
intergator offers the possibility to be integrated into Confluence as an easily configurable plugin and thus not only to provide the functionalities of an enterprise search, but also to make data sources available, which until now either had to be connected by plugins with costs or not at all. Users thus get a more comprehensive and efficient overview and the desired information within the leading system at the Single-Point-of-Information-Access.
The Confluence standard search is not replaced, but extended by a parallel intergator Enterprise Search. When a user calls up the search, he receives the classic Confluence search as usual. A box next to the search results also offers a switch to Enterprise Search. The search terms that have already been entered are transferred and the user switches to the intergator page. In addition to the Confluence hits, you will find additional results from data sources such as file servers, databases, e-mails, Jira tickets, etc., which can be quickly restricted to relevant information using facets and filters. At the push of a button, you can switch back from Enterprise Search to Standard Search at any time.
The integrated intergator search has been adapted to the standard design and thus facilitates acceptance, as the user never has the feeling of moving outside of Confluence. Switching back and forth is possible at any time.
Requirements for use in Confluence
To use intergator as an Enterprise Search within Confluence, you need a separate intergator installation and a special plugin.
intergator already has more than 100 free connectors and about 500 crawlers as standard, which can integrate common systems such as websites, file servers, active directories, e-mails, etc. without much programming effort. The license model is based on index objects, is independent of the number of users and not limited in time. License costs are incurred only once. In contrast, the plugin is user-based and is payable annually.
- the ranking of search hits can be influenced
- works out-of-the-box
- extensive and configurable filters and facets to narrow down the results
- preview with optional Documentation Reader without additional plugins or software
The plugin is integrated via the Universal Plugin Manager and only requires a URL to the intergator installation. All settings and adjustments take place within the intergator installation and leave Confluence untouched.
