“The creativity of our scientists is reflected in the flood of data. With intergator we use now a solution, which on the one hand allows individual filing structures and on the other hand ensures the convenient findability of needed information on various file servers and sources in the intranet and internet.”

Overview on Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS
The IKTS (Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems), is an institute of the Fraunhofer Society that covers the field of technically high-performance ceramics from basic preliminary research to their application in their full range. There are in total three sites of IKTS in Dresden, Saxony, and Hermsdorf, Thuringia, which collectively represent Europe‘s largest R&D institute dedicated to the study of ceramics. Based on comprehensive materials expertise in advanced ceramic materials, the Institute’s development work covers the entire value creation chain, all the way to prototype production.
The word “science” already includes the associated challenge: The creative dealing with existing knowledge creates new knowledge. For this both new and existing knowledge needs to be stored, managed and, most importamtly, found again, ideally prefiltered and connected in intelligent ways. Moreover, the Fraunhofer IKTS has a vivid exchange of information with scientists of other institutions. The institute itself has three sites, all working with with different systems and applications. Dozens of websites are analyzed for results from colleagues – via intergator all current developments remain in focus.
Ten different departments keep track of about 12 million documents, which are indexed by a central intergator server with automatic keywording. Scientists access this body of knowledge via their browsers.
