INTERGATOR – The Central Search in Science and Research

Modern research institutions increasingly rely on a central search in the data stocks of their organisations or in external information sources. The core of all scientific work is the referencing to other research, the comparison with previous results and the acquisition of new knowledge. Hardly any other industry needs more valid data, more exact information and draws on a broader pool of information than the scientific community. INTERGATOR can act as an interface and central point of contact and provide all relevant data quickly and comprehensively.

At the Single Point of Information Access

Numerous organizations use the individually configurable dashboards to design specially tailored start pages as the basis for an extended intranet – in addition to current information from the research area, new or changed documents or graphically prepared research results. In addition, the INTERGATOR uses various web crawlers and feed readers to index external content. Thus, publications from different portals do not have to be researched laboriously, but can be retrieved efficiently on a central platform.

Use Case: INTERGATOR as integrated social intranet

Scientific institutions sometimes have a higher level of staff turnover than in other sectors, as graduates, trainees or PhD students tend to move between research institutes rather than other sectors. In addition, university companies in particular are usually involved in larger organisations and thus have a large amount of information at their disposal. The INTERGATOR offers itself as an integrated social intranet in order to keep an overview or to provide specific information. Individually configurable dashboards allow an easy combination of different information modules, ranging from personal e-mails, announcements, RSS feeds or document monitoring. As a digital workplace and workplace of the future with demand-oriented information channels, INTERGATOR makes it easier to get started and to work in complex organizational structures.
