inter:gator can be characterized by an outstanding flexible and capable indexing. Last but not least users are provided with information very comfortable and selectively at the inter:gator dashboard.

Furthermore the usability and flexibility in displaying search results and hit details is supported by dynamically rendered templates. So it is possible to show various attributes, like f.e. metadata of search results as well as links to continuative information to similar or connected documents.

Suggestions of inter:gator are generated by an adapted combination of both methods.

A wide field of application for using such result patterns is made from indexed datasets from databases or business applications. In that way the hit list becomes a semantic web for explorative search.

In the above example, we are looking for a name. One part of the search result is a hit containing a contact. Clicking on the link for more detailed information, a detailed view for the result is opened, like shown in the picture:

As expected, continuative information about the person, like company, telefon, e-mail address, are shown in metadata and in structured presentation.

The specific feature of this hit list can be seen in the parts “projects” and “documents”. The index contains all information from an enterprise resource planning system, including all available connections between particular entities. So metadata of account manager and all documents belonging to one project can be identified by inter:gator index.

The template for the hit list from the enterprise resource planning system can start further inter:gator queries with these metadata and provide information on all current projects of an account manager, f.e. So the hit list becomes the access point to a semantic web driven by business data, that links every information automatically with ongoing implicit queries. Every click in this hit list activates a drill-down-search, comparable to the realization in a databank application.
